How a frustration with greenwashing turned into a community of travelers who actually care where their money goes.

It started with a question

How many "eco-friendly" resorts are actually eco-friendly? I'm Shane Anthony, a travel advisor with Travel Tamers, powered by Nexion Travel Group. I've been in this industry long enough to know that "sustainable" is the most abused word in travel marketing.

I started digging. Checking certifications. Calling properties. Reading environmental impact reports that most advisors never touch. What I found wasn't pretty — most claims don't hold up. But the ones that do? They're extraordinary.

The Facebook group grew from those conversations. Other travelers who were asking the same questions, tired of the same performative gestures. We started sharing what we found — the real stuff, not the marketing copy. And Refined Vacations became the home for everything we've learned.

How this site was built

This is the nerdy part. Every design decision on this site traces back to the Fibonacci sequence. It's not decoration — it's the structural logic.

Every color uses RGB values drawn from the Fibonacci sequence: 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, 233. The deep ocean background, the gold accents, the jewel-tone greens — all mapped to Fibonacci numbers.

Every measurement is a Fibonacci number. Padding, margins, font sizes, grid gaps — they're all multiples of values from the sequence. Nothing is arbitrary.

Layouts use the golden ratio: 61.8% / 38.2% splits, content widths at 610px and 987px (both Fibonacci numbers). Even the reading progress bar at the top follows the ratio.

The typography scale, the border radii, the animation durations — all derived from the same sequence. It's a constraint system that produces harmony because it mirrors what nature already figured out.

It's nerdy. It's intentional. And if you've gotten this far, you're probably the kind of person who appreciates that.
